NCQA recognizes clinician role in advancing quality
November 22, 2010
The National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) has awarded all 25 clinic locations of Group Health Medical Centers Level III recognition status for Physician Practice Connections-Patient Centered Medical Home (PPC-PCMH).
NCQA’s PPC-PCMH award recognizes the vital role clinicians play in advancing quality. The recognition was developed to help clinicians and practices support the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care that’s built on evidence-based, nationally recognized clinical standards.
Level III is the highest level that NCQA awards for Medical Home.
Nationally, as of April 2009, 416 practices with 4,358 physicians have been recognized with about 30 percent achieving Level III. In Washington state, there are currently three other practices or 140 physicians who have achieved recognition: UW Medicine clinics (Level I/July 2010), Pacific Medical centers (Level I/Jan 2010), and Family Medicine of Port Angeles (Level III/May 2009).
